A profile correction can significantly improve the overall aesthetic appearance of your face. However, this combination operation not only optimizes your facial profile, but also your frontal view.
Profile correction in the narrower sense includes cosmetic rhinoplasty and chin correction. In most cases, the latter involves chin augmentation in the case of a receding chin.
Profile-altering nose operations do not always have to be complete rhinoplasties. Partial correction of the nose can also significantly change the profile. For example, removing the nasal hump may be just as effective as correcting the tip of the nose if it protrudes significantly from the face.
Profile correction can be achieved without surgery using filling materials such as hyaluronic acid. In this way, we at Yuveo in Düsseldorf can correct both the nose (especially the saddle nose) and the receding chin with minimal effort.

Special features of profile correction
Facial aesthetics are essentially characterized by the profile. The nose and chin play a key role here. At Yuveo in Düsseldorf, we can help to harmonize the proportions through surgical and non-surgical procedures.
Profile correction
The profile correction operation
Surgical profile correction in the narrower sense includes a nose correction and chin augmentation using a chin implant.
The two operations can easily be performed together under general anesthesia. The additional chin correction does not extend the operation time significantly.
Compared to an open rhinoplasty, which takes 1.5 to 2.5 hours depending on the findings, the time required for a profile correction is only around 30 minutes longer. This is very manageable, especially when you consider the lower overall cost:
- Wound healing once
- Only one, albeit somewhat longer anesthetic
- A post-operative pain phase
In general, you will not need any more painkillers for the time after the operation described here than for a rhinoplasty.
Frequently asked questions about profile correction
What goes beyond classic profile correction?
There are other options for profile correction in a broader sense:
Lip augmentation:
Lip modulation using hyaluronic acid is a standard non-surgical procedure in plastic surgery. Further details can be found in the article Lip augmentation using fillers.
Lip reduction
… is rarely used in connection with profile correction in Europe. Nevertheless, it is possible to reduce the size of the lips, which are usually too large for ethnic reasons, in the same session. More information on this topic can be found in the article on surgical lip reduction.
Chin reduction
Correction of the profile is most frequently performed with chin augmentation. Occasionally, surgical reduction of the chin is also required in cases where the chin is too large (progenia).
The cost of this form of profile correction is comparable to the combination of rhinoplasty and chin augmentation with a chin implant. This does not apply if the chin malformation is associated with a malposition of the jaw and a closing disorder of the jaw. Correction of the malocclusion is of crucial importance in such cases. You can read more about chin reduction under chin correction.
How can the profile be changed without surgery?
One of the advantages is that without surgery, the possible risks and complications associated with surgery and the necessary anesthesia are eliminated.
The nose, chin and lips can be shaped with hyaluronic acid.
However, you must bear in mind that the result of a non-surgical correction is reversible. On the one hand, the hyaluronic acid only lasts for 12-18 months, and on the other hand, the result can also be quickly reversed with the help of an enzyme that breaks down the hyaluronic acid.
The disadvantage of non-surgical correction is also the limited durability of hyaluronic acid. The most important disadvantage of treating the nose with hyaluronic acid is the fact that it is impossible to reduce the size of the nose in this way.
How is the follow-up treatment carried out?
The follow-up treatment of the profile correction is mainly characterized by the nose correction, as this requires a little more effort.
If necessary, the nasal splint is worn for 2 weeks.
The stitches are removed after 10-14 days.
It is advisable to refrain from sport for 5-6 weeks after the profile correction.
The supports for chin correction are far more restrained.
Further details on aftercare can be found in the corresponding articles.
What complications can occur during a profile correction?
The possible complications are identical to those of rhinoplasty and chin augmentation.
