Nose tip correction is usually only part of the standard rhinoplasty procedure. For this reason, we often perform nose tip correction at our Yuveo clinic in Düsseldorf in combination with the removal of the hump or as part of a nose reduction.

Nose tip correction
When we shape the tip of the nose, we do not change any bony structures. It is an intervention on cartilage and soft tissue.
Although nose tip correction can in principle be performed under local anesthesia, if necessary with twilight sleep, the anesthetic injections are very painful, so that our team of plastic surgeons in Düsseldorf also recommends a general anesthetic here.
An open approach is usually necessary to shape the tip of the nose. This is the only way our plastic surgeons in Düsseldorf can perfectly recognize and correct the structures.
We recommend wearing a nose splint after the procedure to prevent swelling and hematomas.
Frequently asked questions about correcting the tip of the nose
What can we achieve with nose tip correction in Düsseldorf?
Raising the tip of the nose
… can be achieved by shortening the lower anterior part of the nasal septum, narrowing the wing cartilages (palpable at the tip of the nose and often visible as a double bulge) and using internal sutures to fix the wing cartilages.
Narrowing of the tip of the nose
For this purpose, we can shape the wing cartilages with sutures during nasal tip correction. Sometimes the cartilage also has to be cut and re-stitched. Occasionally, cartilage transplants are also necessary to give the spherical tip a new shape.
Lowering the tip of the nose
… can be achieved in Düsseldorf by shortening the upper front part of the nasal septum and the wing cartilages. If the tip of the nose needs to be significantly lowered, the nostrils may appear too large. We can correct this by shortening the nostrils in the area of the fold at the transition to the cheek.
Stabilization of the nose bridge
… is performed by our team of plastic surgeons on soft cartilage scaffolds using a small cartilage graft obtained from the nasal septum.
How does our Düsseldorf team carry out the postoperative treatment of nasal tip surgery?
A nose splint is usually recommended for a few days after nasal tip correction, even though no bone had to be worked on. This is to prevent bruising or prolonged swelling from forming between the skin and the cartilage structures.
The stitches on the nose bridge are removed after approx. 10 days.
Overall, the healing phase after nasal tip correction is significantly shorter than after a complete rhinoplasty.
If the tip of the nose was originally quite wide, you need to be patient after the nose tip correction. Even if the inner structure has now been corrected, the outer skin mantle still has to shrink. This can take months.
What complications can occur during nasal tip surgery?
In the case of nose tip correction, nose hump removal and also complete nose reduction, undesired consequences of surgery cannot be ruled out with one hundred percent certainty.
We explain possible complications in the topic of rhinoplasty.
What are the costs of nose tip correction?
You can find out more about the costs of nose tip correction in the section on nose correction. These are lower than for a complete nose job.
