The quality of butt implants has been optimized to the same extent as breast implants. Liquid silicone is no longer used for them either, but (cohesive) silicone gel instead.
The stability of the outer shell is excellent thanks to multiple layers. It is very unlikely that the buttock implants will be damaged, even in the event of severe bruising and impact. The implants can withstand the usual stresses on the buttocks anyway.
What is the surface quality of the buttock implants?
The surface texture of butt implants and breast implants is called texturing. Textured surfaces are standard for breast implants. Three basic variants are available for buttock augmentation implants:
- The smooth implants (‘non-textured’). The smooth surface is most commonly used for buttock augmentation.
- A slightly textured surface is also frequently used for buttock correction.
- The rough butt implants (‘textured’): As with breast implants, their surface is designed to reduce the likelihood of capsular fibrosis after surgery.
- However, as the implants for buttock augmentation are usually placed under or in the muscle, capsular fibrosis is rarely encountered. The situation is different with buttock implants placed on the gluteal muscle. Fibrosis of the implant capsule is more common here.

What types of butt implants do we use for buttock augmentation in Düsseldorf?
In principle, two basic forms have become established:
Anatomical butt implants
They are flared on one side and therefore emphasize a certain part of the buttocks. We use them for both men and women. The shape is oval when viewed from above. The side view shows a steep slope in one direction and a gentle slope in the other (see picture below).
They are particularly suitable for positioning within the gluteal muscle because we can create a suitable implant pocket during this plastic surgery buttock augmentation technique so that these buttock implants cannot rotate.
Round butt implants
They can give the buttocks a rounded appearance, which is more common in women than in men. We usually use them in Düsseldorf for an implant position under the gluteal muscle. There is no negative effect to be feared if these buttock implants are rotated.

Does butt augmentation also lead to a tightening effect in addition to the increase in volume?
Buttock augmentation with buttock implants at the Yuveo Clinic in Düsseldorf generally involves increasing volume to improve the contour of the buttocks.
Depending on the size of the butt implants, we require an incision of approx. 6-7 cm in the vertical buttock crease. This results in a very inconspicuous scar that is easy to conceal even in tight swimwear.
With a high value placed on the shape of the buttocks in Brazil and an extremely inconspicuous scar after the operation described, buttock augmentation is a routine procedure in Brazil. In Germany, demand is still low.
By increasing the volume, buttock augmentation also has a positive tightening effect, especially on slightly sagging buttocks.
In the case of severe sagging of the buttock skin, a lift using butt implants will not be successful. In these situations, especially after significant weight loss as part of a diet, severe excess skin can only be corrected by plastic surgery with a buttock lift in our Düsseldorf clinic.
