A neck lift is a natural part of a mid and lower facelift.
Although there is no SMAS in the neck area, there is a specific skin muscle called the platysma, which is tightened during the operation.
Our Düsseldorf plastic surgeons pull the platysma and skin in the direction of the jaw angle and fix them behind the ear. In this way, we can also achieve a good tightening up to the middle of the neck with generous mobilization in the neck area.
How can we treat extreme neck laxity?
In cases of extreme neck sagging and excess neck fat, a lower facelift is not sufficient. By tightening the neck through an additional zigzag incision in the middle of the neck, it is possible to remove the excess skin and fatty tissue.
The tightening effect can be enhanced and made long-lasting by a so-called platysma suture or, in the case of more pronounced findings, by platysma plastic surgery.
We perform this type of neck lift on fatty necks, also known as turkey necks. With these changes, sometimes enormous amounts of fatty tissue are removed. The resulting excess skin must then be removed and the skin tightened.
