Nasal septum surgery – Details

The details of what is done during nasal septum surgery depend very much on the extent of the malformation.

We can correct the septum by slitting, milling, incising, cutting away deformed areas and stabilizing or reconstructing important areas with cartilage grafts. In the lower transition area, a protruding bony groin is usually chiseled.

Major bleeding does not normally occur here as long as we are working below the cartilage skin.

Stabilization after surgery

Once the corrections have been made, we stabilize the new situation and ensure that the nasal septum grows back into the corrected position and shape.
