Fat apron removal is a special form of abdominal wall surgery. Patients who undergo this procedure are usually overweight.
A complete classic tummy tuck is not recommended in this case, as complications can occur more frequently due to the fatty tissue masses, which tend to be less well supplied with blood.
Fat apron removal reduces the risk of wound healing disorders
The procedure is reduced to the minimum necessary in order to keep the resulting wound area as small as possible. The fat apron is removed via a horizontal incision. We then suture the wound in several layers.
The navel is not moved and the surgical site only extends as far as it. The wound area is therefore significantly smaller. This improves blood flow to the wound edges and reduces the risk of wound healing disorders.
