The complications that can occur during wrinkle therapy are manifold. They depend crucially on the method used and cannot be generalized sufficiently.
Btx.
A particular complication of wrinkle therapy with Btx is the undesirable paralysis of neighboring muscle groups. For example, if the injection is significantly too deep for the crow’s feet a muscle can be affected that pulls the corners of the mouth upwards when laughing – which is then no longer possible or only possible to a lesser extent for 2-3 months.
Laser or peeling
A special complication is, for example, pigmentation disorders of the skin during wrinkle treatment with laser or peeling for darker skin types. The experience of the plastic surgeon is crucial here in order to be able to assess the skin quality of the face and the required intensity of the treatment.
Hyaluronic acid
In rare cases, wrinkle treatment with hyaluronic acid can lead to irregular distribution of the filling material. However, this can be corrected manually a few days after the injection.
General side effects of wrinkle therapy
General complications such as bleeding, bruising, infections and a cosmetically unsatisfactory result can also be undesirable side effects. Further details can be found in the respective articles on wrinkle treatment.
