Swelling and bruising
As a complication after a neck lift, swelling and slight bruising (also on the sides) of the skin are normal in the first few days/weeks.
Wound effusions = seroma
Seromas are very rare and only to be expected after an extensive neck lift.
Skin sensitivity disorders after neck lift
A deterioration in skin sensation is not uncommon after a neck lift. However, this usually only lasts for a short time. In rare cases, the feeling of the skin can remain impaired in the long term after an extensive neck lift.
Scarring disorders
So-called hypertrophic (excessive, bulging) scars are rare but, as with all operations, can also occur during a neck lift.
We will therefore ask you before the operation whether you are prone to scarring. After the operation, movement of the scarred areas must be avoided as far as possible.
Injury to neighboring structures
With good knowledge and an experienced plastic surgeon, injuries to deeper neck structures are unlikely, but not impossible. During a neck lift, injuries to smaller superficial skin nerves can lead to impaired skin sensation.
Neck lift: Infections
Due to the good blood circulation in the head and neck area, infections are rare. However, if signs of infection occur postoperatively, our Yuveo team reacts immediately with appropriate measures.
