Thread lifting - how do we proceed?
The basic principle of a thread lift is to pull stabilizing threads under the skin. These are equipped with barbs or small cones to achieve a holding effect. This allows the thread to anchor itself internally and hold the tissue in a higher position. This achieves a lifting effect.
The treatment also leads to the formation of new collagen, which additionally tightens the skin. The collagen effect is not immediately visible, but only takes effect after weeks to months, as it is only caused by the dissolving process of the soluble thread. This is referred to as a dual effect: lifting effect + regeneration effect.
Areas
Depending on the findings, the following areas are typically treated: Contour of the lower jaw, neck, zygomatic region, cheeks and sagging eyebrows.
Anesthesia
Treatment at the YUVEO KLINIK in Düsseldorf is usually performed under local anesthesia and on an outpatient basis. An inpatient stay is not necessary. If you are not comfortable with the idea of having several stitches pulled through your face, the treatment can also be carried out under sedation.
Duration
The treatment usually takes about half an hour. However, this can vary depending on the number of areas to be treated and the number of stitches to be inserted.
Durability
The durability of the effect is limited, regardless of whether dissolvable or non-dissolvable threads are used. With most methods, it can be assumed that the thread lift will last for around 1.5 years. In order to maintain the effect, a new treatment must be carried out afterwards.
Combination
Thread lifting can be combined well with the use of fillers or Bttx. This means that the various corrections can complement each other perfectly without surgery. Thread lifting is used to lift the structures, while Bttx is used to restrict overactive muscle groups. The filler material, which today is usually hyaluronic acid, can be used to conceal blemishes in areas where age-related tissue loss has occurred.

Who is a thread lift suitable for?
As this tissue-sparing method does not involve cutting, we are unable to remove any skin.
The technique is therefore suitable for middle-aged and older men and women, depending on the ageing and sagging of the skin.
As soon as a significant excess of skin needs to be corrected, this can only be achieved with a facelift.
This can make sense for younger people, for example, after significant weight loss.
If additional fat needs to be removed, e.g. due to a double chin, then liposuction is necessary. A thread lift is not suitable for this.
The thread lift is suitable for those who need to be able to return to everyday life and work quickly. In general, you will be available again just 2 days after the treatment. A facelift, on the other hand, can take 3 to 4 weeks.
Which sutures do we work with at the Yuveo Clinic Düsseldorf?
In our Düsseldorf practice, we like to use Silhouette Soft® threads. These are made of polylactic acid and therefore take longer to dissolve.
The cones are able to hold the fabric firmly in place without weakening the thread itself.
The suture can be inserted and anchored using small stitches and a slender flexible needle.

How is the follow-up treatment for thread lifting carried out?
Even if it is not an operation with a scalpel, there are a number of things to bear in mind after the procedure in order to achieve the best possible result:
- Immediately after the thread lift, you should keep your head cool to minimize swelling. It is also beneficial to keep the head elevated for the first few days, especially when sleeping.
- You should not lie on your cheek for approx. 1 week after the treatment, but on the back of your head.
- Strong chewing processes are disadvantageous in the first 2 to 3 weeks, as stable internal scarring has not yet formed and the lifting effect can therefore be significantly reduced. Therefore, please do not eat any foods that require intensive chewing such as beef steaks, rusks, carrots and the like.
- Other movements of the face such as yawning, laughing hard or generally opening the mouth wide, e.g. at the dentist, also worsen the final result in the first 3 weeks.
- Cosmetic treatments of the face, facial massages and heavy creams should be avoided for 3 weeks after the thread lift.
- Excessive heat should be avoided for the first 3 weeks. This includes exposure to the sun, saunas, hot baths or showers, infrared light, etc.
- All sports that cause facial contortions or impacts to the face should be avoided for at least 3 weeks.
