Many people would like to have liposuction on their buttocks and legs. Such a combination treatment is certainly possible, for example in the case of a fat distribution disorder.
Smaller or larger accumulations of fat on the legs are a typical symptom of so-called lipoedema. This localized fat distribution disorder is often inherited.
Patients suffering from lipoedema seek liposuction ofthe buttocks and legs not only because of the improved aesthetics. Above all, they want to alleviate existing swelling, pain and similar complaints.
Liposuction on the legs is a standard treatment, but a procedure on the buttocks is not standard and is considered taboo due to its anatomical characteristics.
When treating the legs, the plastic surgeon requires a great deal of experience, especially for the ankles and calves, as these areas are very demanding.
What needs to be considered during liposuction on the buttocks and legs?
Legs
The most important information on liposuction of the legs can be found in the section on the treatment of the thighs, riding breeches, calves and ankles . In principle, suction can be applied to almost all areas of the legs.
However, the classic areas are the thighs, including saddlebags, the front region of the thighs and the inner thighs.
The area above the knee is not treated by every plastic surgeon, as it is a special region.
Aftercare
In many cases, no sport may be practiced for a period of around 6 weeks. Compression garments must be worn for the same period. Painkillers and decongestants are only recommended for the first few days.
Po
The special feature of liposuction on the buttocks is the fact that the area of the buttocks is not usually suctioned off, as the existing tissue structures could cause ripples, dents and retractions.
In addition, the excess skin that forms can result in a sagging buttock, which can lead to a significant impairment of the patient’s appearance.
However, a less risky operation can be performed around the buttocks, making them appear smaller. If it is still necessary to reduce the tissue on the buttocks, a butt lift may be the method of choice.
This operation can remove fatty tissue and skin so that the buttocks appear smaller. However, this method results in a long scar which, depending on the technique used, runs in the horizontal folds of the buttocks or above the buttocks.
Due to the special features described above, true liposuction of the buttocks is not recommended, except in combination with a butt lift.
