Both changes <strong>impede the gliding of the flexor tendons<\/strong>. <\/p><p>If the thickening of the tendon is advanced, <strong>the finger locks<\/strong> during extension and\/or flexion. Only when force is applied does it jerk into the end position, as the tendon knot overcomes the resistance of the annular ligament &#8211; hence the common term <strong>&#8220;snap finger<\/strong>&#8221; in hand surgery. <\/p><p>The jumping finger can <strong>rarely<\/strong> be <strong>congenital<\/strong> and can lead to a jumping phenomenon even in infants. This almost always affects the thumb (pollex flexus congenitus, <strong>snapping thumb<\/strong>) and is caused by a thickening of the tendon. surgery<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-2f7c10de elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"2f7c10de\" finger<\/strong> can be treated with lasting success by an <strong>operation<\/strong> called <strong>ring ligament splitting<\/strong>. This involves <strong>severing<\/strong> the first ring ligament. <\/p><p>Our team of hand surgeons in D\u00fcsseldorf can perform this procedure <strong>on an outpatient basis<\/strong> and under local anesthesia.<\/p><p>We make a small incision about 1.5 cm long at the level of the first annular ligament. When exposing the ligament, the two finger nerves must be spared. We cut the ligament and, if necessary, remove part of it from the middle to prevent it from growing together again.  <\/p><p>If the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yuveo.de\/en\/hand\/tendinitis\/\">tendon sheath is clearly inflamed<\/a>, we have to remove part of the tendon sheath (partial synovialectomy).<\/p><p>If it is more pronounced, this can also mean an extension of the incision, which is rare with the classic jumping finger.<\/p><p>This partial synovialectomy (removal of part of the tendon sheath) must be performed more frequently in <strong>rheumatoid<\/strong> patients.<\/p><p>Through the operation, we can eliminate the <strong>ring ligament tightness<\/strong> at the hand surgery center in D\u00fcsseldorf.
