Among other things, this contains various fibrous structural proteins such as collagen. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Terminology: <\/strong>Fibrosis comes from the Latin word fibra, which means fiber.<\/p>\n<p>In <strong>plastic surgery<\/strong>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yuveo.de\/en\/lexikon\/capsular-fibrosis-capsular-thickening\/\">capsular fibrosis <\/a>after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yuveo.de\/en\/op\/breast-surgery-duesseldorf\/breast-augmentation\/\">breast augmentation<\/a> is <strong>rarely<\/strong> seen today with the younger generation of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yuveo.de\/en\/op\/breast-surgery-duesseldorf\/breast-implants\/\">breast implants<\/a>. This leads to a hardening of the otherwise delicate implant capsule. <\/p>\n<p>In <strong>hand surgery<\/strong>, the most common variant is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yuveo.de\/en\/hand\/dupuytrens\/\">Dupuytren&#8217;s disease<\/a>, also known as palmar fibromatosis.<\/p>\n<p>This is caused by an <strong>increase in collagen fibers<\/strong> in the palm fascia. The result is a hardening of the affected areas and later a <strong>curvature of the<\/strong> corresponding <strong>fingers<\/strong>. <\/p>\n<p>Fibromatosis of the <strong>sole of the foot<\/strong>, similar to Dupuytren&#8217;s disease, is called <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yuveo.de\/en\/lexikon\/ledderhose-disease\/\">Ledderhose disease<\/a>. Both diseases can occur in combination or independently of each other. <\/p>\n<h2>Examples of fibrosis in other medical disciplines:<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Lung F.<\/strong>: a condition following various chronic lung diseases.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Retroperitoneal F.<\/strong>: connective tissue remodeling <strong>in the pelvic area<\/strong>.
