It is used in particular to redistribute skin tension. It is standard for defect coverage.  <\/p>\n<h2>Explanation of the Y-V plastic<\/h2>\n<p>The continuous Y-V plastic is also called Y-W plastic. The following image shows the principle. The corners of the Y are moved as shown by the small green arrows, resulting in a continuous <strong>W-shaped seam<\/strong> or scar. In this way, length can be gained at the expense of width.   <\/p>\n<h6><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/www.yuveo.de\/bilder\/le\/y-v-lappen-plastik-fortlauf.jpg\" alt=\"Illustration of the V-Y plastic\" width=\"400\" height=\"321\"><\/h6>\n<h2>Application<\/h2>\n<p>The following indications exist for this skin flap technique in <a href=\"\/en\/\">plastic surgery<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yuveo.de\/en\/hand-surgery-duesseldorf\/\">hand surgery<\/a>:  <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In some cases, a sensible redistribution of skin tension can be achieved for burns.<\/li>\n<li>In <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yuveo.de\/en\/hand\/dupuytrens\/\">Dupuytren&#8217;s disease<\/a>, the skin of the fingers is often shortened in the longitudinal direction.
