Plastic surgeons who frequently perform liposuction generally use expensive but improved assisted systems such as PAL (vibration-assisted liposuction) or UAL (ultrasound-assisted liposuction).

The Tulip system is the most cost-effective.

The Tulip system is the simplest and most cost-effective of all liposuction devices. It consists of a 50 ml syringe, a “spring” and of course a selection of cannulas.

First, the tumescent solution is infiltrated. The desired cannula is then screwed onto the syringe. As soon as the cannula is advanced into the subcutaneous fatty tissue via the small skin incision, negative pressure can be built up by drawing up the syringe.

This means that no device that creates continuous suction is required for liposuction. Although the amount of material required is low, our plastic surgeons can only work on small areas with this technique.

Larger areas require an enormous amount of time. This technique is also not as gentle as others.

UAL is one of the ultrasonic liposuction techniques.

The ultrasound waves produced by the system are emitted via a special handpiece and finally via the cannulas. The fat cells swollen by the tumescent solution can be destroyed even more easily using ultrasound and are easier to suction out.

The fat cells burst and a fat emulsion is created, which is suctioned out via the suction cannula. This means less manipulation of the subcutaneous fatty tissue with larger suction volumes.

However, this form of liposuction produces a not inconsiderable amount of heat energy, which should be reduced by ample cooling (liquid). UAL may only be used in the tumescent technique!

Effect of heat

The positive effect of the heat is that minor burns are created when working on the dermis (deepest layer of skin), which cause the skin to contract much better after liposuction than is the case with conventional liposuction.

In the case of sagging skin, there is therefore a greater chance of avoiding skin tightening surgery at a later date. The negative effect of heat generation is that in rare cases, with large amounts of suction and excessive treatment, real burns, even of the entire skin layer, can result, with corresponding delayed wound healing and scarring.

All in all, ultrasound-assisted liposuction is a gentle liposuction technique that can be used to achieve good results even in stubborn cases (e.g. lipomatosis).

One of the liposuction techniques used at the Yuveo Clinic is the PAL(power-assistedliposuction) technique.
