This may be necessary for various eyelid diseases and malformations. <\/p>\n<p>Tissue defects can often be covered with the help of canthoplasty even in the case of tumors in the area of the lid edge and near the lid edge.<\/p>\n<p>This procedure is a form of canthoplasty. It involves a tightening effect in the area of the outer corner of the eyelid to stabilize the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yuveo.de\/en\/op\/head\/eyelid-correction\/lower-eyelid-lift\/\">lower eyelid<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>A part of the muscle<a href=\"https:\/\/www.muskeln.xyz\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">(orbicularis oculi muscle)<\/a> is fixed to the periosteum of the temporal bone using sutures.<\/p>\n<p>This surgical technique is essential for the plastic surgeon in lower eyelid correction to prevent postoperative drooping of the lower eyelid (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.yuveo.de\/en\/lexikon\/ectropion\/\"><strong>ectropion<\/strong><\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>If the lower eyelid drops, tearing and conjunctivitis can occur as a result.<\/p>\n<p>In cases of senile ectropion or ectropion due to injury, canthopexy is often used to fundamentally correct the drooping eyelid.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The canthopexy is a form of canthoplasty.
