Collapsed temples can be caused by a skull deformity or by wasted temporal muscles.
Our plastic surgeons can permanently correct sunken temples surgically with specially selected temple implants via temple correction.
Our plastic surgery team in Düsseldorf uses these temporal implants in a targeted manner to shape and build up the temporal muscle volume according to your wishes.

Special feature of temple correction
The implants are used to build up soft tissue (muscle). Due to their shape and consistency, they adapt very well to their surroundings.
- In contrast to cheek, chin and jaw angle implants, temporal implants are not bone implants.
Building up sunken temples with implants
For surgical temporal reconstruction, the implants are placed between the fascia and the muscle. The fascia is the tissue that surrounds the temporal muscle as thin, tendinous skin.
This is important because implantation directly under the skin would mean that the contours of the implant could not be sufficiently concealed.
During the operation, we use a low-risk and low-complication incision in the area of the high temporal scalp. This allows us to provide excellent protection for the adjacent tissue and make the placement through a relatively small incision. The scar can also be concealed very well in this way.
Frequently asked questions
What are the possible side effects of the operation?
Side effects are caused by the insertion of the implant between the fascia and muscle tissue. You may experience temporary swelling and stiffness when opening your mouth. However, you will recover within approx. 10 to 14 days.
What are the advantages of temple augmentation with implants?
The operation enables you to achieve a permanent restorative effect of the temporal muscle.
What should I bear in mind when choosing an implant?
As the temporal implants are placed between the fascia and the muscle, it is important for the surgeon to select the implant thickness carefully so that it can adapt optimally to its surroundings.
