In most cases, transsexuals have gone through a long ordeal until they have found their identity. Once everything has been sorted out, they want nothing more than to adopt the gender they feel they belong to.
Among other things, surgical feminization plays an extremely important role in this process. In today’s plastic surgery, there are many different options for making gender-specific changes to alter the appearance in such a way that those affected can live an accepted life.
The ideal goal for many transsexuals is to no longer be perceived in the form of their original, genetic gender. Today, this goal can often be achieved through early hormone therapy and a series of feminizing operations for transsexuals.
At the YUVEO CLINIC we can offer a range of such feminization operations. You will find an overview below.
The following operations are among the most popular:
- Breast augmentation is a standard operation for feminization. However, it is not always necessary with good hormone treatment. Unless there is a desire for a voluminous cleavage. As the soft tissue mantle is extremely sparse in most cases, we usually recommend placing the breast implants under the pectoral muscle.
- Rhinoplasty is also a very frequently requested standard operation, as a prominent nose does not correspond to the female ideal of beauty. The techniques used depend on the diagnosis. In general, the nose may be finer, more delicate and smaller for feminization than for the nose job of a non-transsexual man, as there are different aesthetic landmarks for the female nose than for the male nose.
- Buttock augmentation with butt implants can also feminize the volume of the buttocks in very slim patients. Most transsexuals are aware that feminine curves also include a well-shaped bottom. This is why more and more of these patients are opting for a butt correction with implants.
- Adam’s apple reduction is a special operation that is only performed by a few people. However, the prominent Adam’s apple is an important male feature that transsexuals would like to get rid of. The greatest possible reduction can be achieved with incisional procedures. The resulting scar is very small at 1.5-2 cm and once the redness of the scar has subsided, it remains very inconspicuous.
- Just as it is with the Adam’s apple, it is the same with the forehead ridges. Many male-to-female transsexuals have their forehead ridges removed in order to achieve a more delicate, feminine forehead. The operation can be combined very well with lowering the hairline, as this does not change the access route.
- The chin reduction can be performed by grinding if the chin is not too enlarged. However, if chin reduction is required in several directions, the chin must be cut with a saw. The fragments that are to remain are then screwed back together using plates.
- Autologous fat injections can also contribute to feminization. Typically, the outer thighs, inner thighs and hips can be adjusted. However, the prerequisite is that at least some fat is present. A small example: If present, the pads on the hips that extend to the spine can be suctioned out. The harvested fat is then transplanted to the outer thighs. In this way, the feminine curves can be worked out.
- The Brazilian butt lift also belongs to the category of autologous fat injections. The procedure involves liposuction to harvest the patient’s own fat and injecting the buttocks with the resulting material. Although this method is becoming increasingly popular with genetic women, it is often not possible with trans women because there is often only a small amount of autologous fat that can be transplanted.
- If the root of the hair is quite high, it looks masculine. To prevent this, the hairline can be lowered. In principle, the current recommendation would be a hair transplant. However, if you want a reduction of the forehead bulges, the two can be combined very well, as described above. The same applies if a simultaneous eyebrow lift is desired.
- Cheek augmentation with implants
- We have not yet performed mandibular angle reduction at the YUVEO CLINIC. Here, an approach is made from the inside of the mouth directly along the bone until the jaw angle is exposed. The angle is then reduced with a saw. The width of the lower jaw bone can also be thinned (by reducing the outer cortical bone). Part of the muscle (masseter muscle) can also be reduced. This can also make the lower jaw appear wider. However, it is also possible to treat the muscle with Btx to reduce it. However, this must be carried out 2-3 times a year in order to achieve a stable result.
- Ear reduction is also part of feminization. At least if they are quite large. On average, women have slightly smaller ears than men. The head can therefore appear more feminine with smaller ears than with larger ones. Earlobe correction in the sense of a reduction in size is often performed at the same time in order to reduce the overall size of the ear. The scars from these procedures are usually virtually invisible after healing.
- Lip correction is often performed in addition to the aforementioned operations. Women usually have fuller lips and full lips are perceived as more attractive, especially in women. Women also find it attractive if their upper teeth are visible. This is why lip augmentation and lip enhancement by means of bullhorn excision are an option for transsexuals (trans women).
Other procedures that are often used by transsexuals,
which, however, do not involve so-called feminization:
