Sail ears and similar designations

In medical terminology, sail ears are referred to as apostasis otis. The term sail ears is often used for protruding ears. Like glider ears, dumbo ears, radar ears, bat ears, etc., it stands for the mockery and ridicule that children in particular experience when they suffer from sail ears. The psychological impact on character development is often underestimated. However, the teasing often goes far beyond childhood. Even adults throw a derogatory remark here and there or plague the affected person with a contemptuous grin.

Is surgery the best treatment for sail ears?
