A mons pubis lift is not directly related to intimate surgery. However, as it is located in the immediate vicinity of the external secondary sexual characteristics, this correction is aesthetically very important. Particularly in connection with labia reduction or clitoral hood reduction, it often makes sense to consider correcting a very prominent or sagging mons pubis in the same session. A marked prominence of the mons pubis, also known as the mons veneris, is usually present after pregnancy or in people who are overweight. Occasionally it can be a fat distribution disorder with otherwise normal fat deposits. After weight loss, excess skin may remain due to fat reduction. In extreme cases, this leads to a sagging of the mons veneris in such a way that the external sexual characteristics are partially concealed.
After major weight loss, a mons pubis lift (mons veneris lift) is performed in conjunction with a tummy tuck. Here, the area of skin to be removed is extended downwards, which raises the mons pubis. The scars do not widen as a result.
As fatty tissue is also removed here, the mons pubis is also reduced in size.
How is a mons pubis lift performed?
There are various options for performing a mons pubis lift.
- Isolated tightening is performed when only a correction of the mons pubis is required. The mons pubis is sagging and in extreme cases hangs over the genitals. A spindle-shaped incision is made over the mons pubis and the skin and subcutaneous fatty tissue are then removed. Sufficient fixation of the tissue is important to prevent further sagging.
- Liposuction with lifting is necessary if there is a lot of fat in addition to the sagging. A mons pubis lift alone would not be able to remove enough fat, especially in the lower areas. For this reason, liposuction is usually performed first and then, as described above, the tightening is carried out.
- A mons pubis lift with a tummy tuck is basically an extension of a tummy tuck. In comparison to the latter, the skin incision is extended to include a widening in the pubic area. The abdominal area is treated in the same way as a tummy tuck and the pubic area in the same way as a mons pubis correction. The overall procedure is not significantly longer. In connection with an abdominoplasty, 30 minutes more time must be planned for the mons pubis. This means 2 procedures in one go without any significant increase in the risk of surgery or anesthesia. There is no difference in the aftercare.
What are the costs for this mons pubis correction?
The costs for this form of mons pubis correction depend on the effort involved and the technique. In Germany, experience has shown that you should expect the following cost factors:
- The isolated mons pubis correction
- Liposuction and mons pubis lift are more expensive.
- The costs for correction in connection with a tummy tuck are somewhat higher than for a tummy tuck.
However, you will have to add costs for anesthesia depending on the type of surgery. In connection with a tummy tuck, it can be more expensive because of the inpatient stay.
