Is liposuction of the face and cheeks safe?
Theindication for liposuction of the face and cheeks is quite strict. Such an operation only makes sense for people with liposuctionable pads.
As with facelift surgery, it is important to respect and protect the anatomical structures of the face and, above all, the nerves.
If the findings are very pronounced, a significant reduction can be expected. However, it is important to differentiate between deep and superficial cheek fat. Only superficial fat is accessible to liposuction.
The deep fat is housed in the so-called buccal fat pad (the corpus adiposus buccae) and cannot be suctioned out. However, it is also possible to reduce this fat body of the cheek. This is done via a small incision on the inside of the cheek. This incision is used to access and remove the unwanted fat.

What is the aftercare for liposuction of the face and cheeks?
Post-operative compression therapy is recommended for the face and cheek area. Special compression garments are available for this purpose. However, a good compression bandage may also be sufficient. It is important to protect the facial muscles.
This means that you should avoid extreme facial expressions after the operation and make sure that you only eat food that does not require too much chewing.
In some cases, it is advantageous to build up the diet from liquid food to porridge and finally easily chewable food. Painkillers and decongestants are particularly useful in the first few days.
If the puncture sites are sutured, the stitches can generally be removed after approx. 1 week. You should refrain from sport for 4-6 weeks, as the face always moves involuntarily during sport.
When correcting the cheek by removing the fat body, a similar treatment should be carried out. However, adherence to the diet is of greater importance here.
