Development of forehead wrinkles
Forehead wrinkles are the result of the activity of the forehead muscle. When it contracts, the eyebrows are raised and the skin on the forehead wrinkles.
Some people unconsciously use these facial expressions to attract the attention of the person they are talking to and to convince them. However, the resulting forehead wrinkles often make the person concerned look prematurely aged.
Drooping eyelids can also be the cause of forehead wrinkles. With pronounced drooping eyelids, those affected usually tend to raise their eyebrows. This pulls on the upper eyelid skin, which smoothes out slightly. The eyelid is less heavy and it is easier to see.
However, the wrinkles on the forehead cannot be overlooked. In a sense, an upper eyelid lift can also indirectly reduce wrinkles on the forehead.
Prevention
Even without medical measures, forehead wrinkles can be counteracted to a certain extent. The following factors play a role here:
- Do not raise your eyebrows! If you manage to consciously fight these facial expressions, the formation of wrinkles will be significantly reduced.
- Skin care with skin creams (daily)
- Avoid strong sunlight: The sun damages the skin and leads to premature skin ageing.
Conclusion: Avoid raising eyebrows, apply sunscreen, seek shade.
Treatment with Btx
Bttx is the most commonly used method of treatment. The forehead muscle (frontalis muscle) is paralyzed at 4 or more points so that it can only produce wrinkles in a reduced form or not at all. The effect lasts for approx. 3-5 months. The treatment can then be repeated.
Correction with fillers (e.g. hyaluronic acid) – Wrinkle injections
Forehead wrinkles can also be reduced with the help of wrinkle injections. One of the most popular filling materials is hyaluronic acid. This is injected under the wrinkles. This lifts and smoothes them. The effect lasts for around 9 months. After that, wrinkle injections can be repeated.
Forehead smoothing through forehead lifting
If the forehead wrinkles are very pronounced, you can consider a forehead lift to smooth the forehead. This is certainly the more radical correction method, but the effect lasts much longer.
Cutting out the folds
The excision of wrinkles on the forehead is also a proven procedure in a few cases. If the skin has large pores and wrinkles are isolated, the forehead crease is excised and the edges of the wound are meticulously sutured. In most cases, the scar is barely visible or not visible at all.
