At our Yuveo Clinic in Düsseldorf, we use filling materials, also known as fillers, to inject wrinkles for aesthetic facial wrinkle correction.
The principle is the relining of wrinkles. To a certain extent, an ‘implant’ is injected under the wrinkle, which raises it.
However, the result depends on the age and depth of the wrinkles. Extremely deep wrinkles that are already scarred can only be corrected to a limited extent by injections. In these cases, aesthetic skin improvements are often only visible after several applications.
Btx (Bttx A) is used as a muscle paralyzing agent for the treatment of mimic facial wrinkles and initially has nothing to do with actual wrinkle injections. Bttx is not injected under the wrinkles, but into the muscles whose overactivity causes the wrinkles.
Although fillers are not primarily used to treat mimic wrinkles, they can occasionally be smoothed out by injecting fillers, depending on the findings.

Special features of wrinkle injections
At Yuveo in Düsseldorf, self-dissolving materials such as hyaluronic acid are used for classic wrinkle injections, but Btx. as a muscle relaxer can also achieve good results, especially with mimic wrinkles.
Procedure for wrinkle injections in Düsseldorf
Before injecting wrinkles at the Yuveo Clinic for Plastic Surgery in Düsseldorf, we carry out a careful examination of the facial wrinkles in order to be able to apply the best method for aesthetic wrinkle correction in each case.
During the consultation for wrinkle correction in our Düsseldorf clinic, we first consider the wishes of our patients and examine the existing wrinkles in detail. There are often different treatment options for different wrinkles.
During the consultation, we inform you about the possibilities, limitations and complications of wrinkle correction and obtain your consent before the treatment.
You should not take any blood-thinning medication before wrinkle correction with fillers or Btx. These can lead to bruising, which will only resolve after approx. 2-3 weeks.
Anesthesia
Depending on the areas of the face in which the wrinkles are to be injected, the treatment can be carried out after applying an anaesthetic cream to the facial skin. Depending on the preparation, our Düsseldorf team calculates 15-20 minutes for the anesthetic ointment. In particularly painful areas and especially on the lip, local anesthesia should be considered.
Injection
After disinfecting the skin, the filling material is then injected under the wrinkles using a very thin needle, whereby there are different techniques depending on the findings. The injection takes about 15-60 minutes, depending on the amount of material to be injected.
Frequently asked questions about wrinkle injections
Which wrinkles are suitable for injections?
The nasolabial fold and marionette lines are among the wrinkles that can classically be treated with fillers as part of aesthetic injections.
However, mimic wrinkles can also be corrected, such as frown lines, forehead wrinkles, etc.
Furthermore, there are some special applications for filling materials that are not limited to wrinkle injections. You can find more information on this in our article Wrinkle treatment with hyaluronic acid.
Lip augmentation or lip contouring is mainly used for lip correction. However, wrinkles are also corrected here. With both techniques, we can significantly reduce mouth wrinkles, which are located directly at the edge of the lips, especially in smokers.
What wrinkle treatment options are available at the Yuveo Clinic in Düsseldorf?
Today, there are many ways to reduce wrinkles on the face. A distinction can be made between invasive and non-invasive methods. The latter tend to fall into the specialist area of cosmeticians. The invasive procedures fall into the field of plastic surgery, also here in Düsseldorf.
Wrinkle treatment in plastic surgery focuses on the following areas:
- Wrinkle treatment with filling material(filler)
- Wrinkle treatment with Btx
- Wrinkle excision is a method that is only rarely used for extreme wrinkles with severe indentations.
- Dermabrasion is now only rarely used. It is less suitable for treating wrinkles than for reducing scars, e.g. after acne.
- Peeling
- Laser
- Skin tightening operations for excess skin, especially after weight loss, also lead to a reduction in wrinkles.
The principle of wrinkle treatment with filling material is the relining of indented wrinkles. We differentiate between permanent (lasting) and resorbable (self-dissolving) filling material. You can find out which treatment options are available here or under hyaluronic acid treatment.
What are the advantages of the self-dissolving filling material?
Hyaluronic acid is a tried-and-tested filler for wrinkle injections
Hyaluronic acid (hyaluron) is one of the most popular materials for injecting wrinkles. You can find more information on this in the article Hyaluronic acid. The duration of effect of this treatment is 6 – 18 months, depending on the cross-linking of the hyaluronic acid. The more cross-linked the molecules are, the thicker the preparation becomes, but the longer it takes for it to be broken down by the body. An allergy test is not necessary before the injection.
What is important about collagen?
The collagen is obtained from bovine or porcine skin and biochemically purified. Longer-lasting preparations are cross-linked and therefore more stable. Depending on the product, the duration of effect is approx. 6 – 18 months. As allergic reactions (1% – 5% depending on the literature) can rarely occur with wrinkle injections using collagen, an allergy test is required approx. 4 weeks before treatment. No allergic effects have been described with the latest preparations.
As an allergy test is necessary before injections with collagen, encapsulation of the material can occur from time to time and the highly cross-linked hyaluronic acid (hyaluron) can also last up to 1.5 years, the filler is only used by a few plastic surgeons in Germany.
How long does the polylactic acid last?
Polylactic acid has been used for aesthetic wrinkle injections for a long time. It is produced artificially and degrades completely. Allergic reactions are not known.
Polylactic acid is particularly suitable for coarser wrinkles and also for improving the contours of the cheeks and chin. The durability is up to 2 years.
For which wrinkles is wrinkle treatment with Btx suitable?
Wrinkle treatment with Btx (Bttx A) is used for mimic wrinkles. This is not an injection.
The concept is to paralyze the facial muscles, which are less important for function and facial expression, but which are involved in the formation of severe wrinkles.
Frown lines, crow’s feet and forehead wrinkles are often treated in this way. You can find more information in the article Btx wrinkle treatment.
What does wrinkle excision mean?
Wrinkle excision is a good treatment option if other measures fail. Although certain scars are accepted, these can often be made very inconspicuous.
Wrinkle treatment by wrinkle excision is used, for example, for extremely deep nasolabial folds. This is then cut out under local anesthesia and sutured in several layers. The fine scar is barely visible, especially in men with coarse-pored skin, and is at least less noticeable than the wrinkle.
Also the frown lines can also be treated by plastic surgeons in this way in stubborn cases.
What should you know about aftercare?
Our Yuveo team recommends that you protect and cool the relevant areas following wrinkle injections.
There may be some swelling and redness for a short time.
Normally, bruising rarely occurs when injecting wrinkles – but it cannot be ruled out.
You should avoid massaging the injected areas, as this can lead to long-term deformation.
If irregularities persist despite the reduction in swelling after wrinkle injections at the Yuveo Clinic, you should consult us again.
We can then treat the relevant areas in a targeted manner by massaging them out. Wrinkle injections can also be followed by a loss of pigment(bleaching) in treated areas, which can be permanent if not massaged out.
