Mouth wrinkles, also known as lip wrinkles, are arranged in a radial pattern around the lips(radial mouth wrinkles). As they occur more frequently and more intensely in smokers due to the pointed position of the mouth, they are also known as smoker’s lines. As with all wrinkles, they are more visible on sun-damaged and dry skin.
How can you prevent mouth wrinkles?
Even without medical measures, mouth wrinkles can be counteracted to a certain extent:

Does the mouth wrinkle treatment with Btx work?
Btx treatment with Bttx can be considered for the treatment of mouth wrinkles if they are less pronounced. However, the treatment must be very cautious. Only a small dose may be injected into the mouth ring muscle above the upper lip in order to reduce the action of the eye ring muscle. If the dose is too high, there is a risk of significant problems with drinking, eating and possibly speaking. The effect of Btx treatment lasts for approx. 3-5 months.
Correction with fillers such as hyaluronic acid.
Mouth wrinkles can also be corrected with filling materials such as hyaluronic acid. The mouth wrinkles are filled with hyaluronic acid so that they are smoothed out. A thinner hyaluronic acid should be used than for the nasolabial fold, for example, so that no contour irregularities remain. Lip augmentation usually involves filling or contouring the edge of the lips with a filler. This significantly reduces the wrinkles at the edge of the lips. In many cases, this form of correction is sufficient to give the mouth area a fresher, more youthful appearance.
Other options for treating mouth wrinkles.
- Dermabrasion is another treatment option for mouth wrinkles. In this procedure, the superficial layers of the skin are abraded with a diamond cutter, which regenerates and tightens the skin. Smaller mouth wrinkles can be smoothed out well in this way.
- Similar to dermabrasion of mouth wrinkles, peeling also removes the superficial layer of skin to regenerate and tighten it. However, the effect is achieved with chemical agents.
