On this page we present you with an overview of chin reduction or chin narrowing at the Yuveo Clinic in Düsseldorf. Among other things, we will provide you with information about the sliding plasty and other surgical techniques.
The masculine-looking chin is too large and dominant for some women and men. We can reduce this with selected surgical techniques and thus bring the facial proportions back into harmony.
Chin reduction procedures in Düsseldorf are often combined with a nose correction or even a profile correction.

The chin reduction operation
Chin reduction in its different variations is performed at the Yuveo Clinic Düsseldorf under general anesthesia or local anesthesia with twilight sleep. The procedure is performed through the oral cavity, so we can avoid visible scars.
If the chin is moderately pronounced, we can grind down and shape part of the bone with a bone cutter. If the chin is larger and more angular, we saw out part of the lower jaw bone.
Depending on the findings, the protruding chin is then repositioned backwards (sliding plasty), and we stabilize the remaining bone with titanium plates or screws during the healing phase.
We use various techniques to narrow and shorten the chin.
For more extensive chin reductions, a hospital stay of 1 to 2 days may make sense. Cooling compresses and elevation of the upper body while sleeping can be helpful against swelling of the chin.
The chin is stabilized with a bandage for up to 14 days. If we operate via the oral cavity, we use self-dissolving sutures, so there is no need to remove stitches.
After the swelling in the chin area has subsided, the result is visible after 4 to 6 weeks. The final result is visible after approx. 9 months.
Of course, we will inform you in advance about possible risks or complications. The treatment procedure will be explained to you in detail and the costs will be presented transparently.
You are welcome to arrange a personal consultation with us.
Frequently asked questions about chin reduction
What should you know before chin reduction?
Our plastic surgeons use appropriate surgical techniques to transform the large, angular chin into a chin that generally appears more pointed and triangular (V-line, therefore also called V-line surgery).
By grinding down the jaw angle, we also reduce the bone volume and feminize the lateral facial profile.
What is special about the mini V-op?
This is a particularly tissue-sparing operation. With mini V-line surgery (= V-line surgery), we only narrow the wide frontal chin to create an ideal V-line. The incision corresponds to the T-osteotomy, as shown in the diagrams. We remove the pieces of bone after separation while protecting the mandibular nerves. The new sections are stabilized with screws and additional bone is removed laterally, which contributes to the narrowing.
Surgical procedures for the mini V-line: seen from the side and from the front: The chin is narrowed and shortened. Starting position: broad and round chin.

What is the procedure for surgery with two parallel incisions?
The operation with two parallel incisions is performed while protecting the nerve tracts. We use this operation for the long chin. T-osteotomy: bone is removed at the top and in the middle, the bone parts are fixed with screws and a lateral ablation is performed.
